Manu San Félix, Madrid 1964 graduated in Biology from the Complutense University of Madrid. Diver since 1981 with some 12,000 dives in all the oceans of the world and countries of the 5 continents. During his time at university, he started taking photographs and underwater images so that he has become “a biologist with a camera”. His job is to capture and disseminate the unknown beauty of the oceans and the problems of their conservation. To achieve this, he likes to spend as much time as possible in nature and observe it, making some 300 dives a year. Always with the aim to bring nature closer to people, to fascinate them and to inspire them for its conservation by making them see the importance of water and oceans for our lives.
He has won two of the most prestigious awards for underwater photography: Wildlife Photographer of the Year (London, 2004) and World Underwater Festival (Antibes, France 2005). Since 2009 he has worked as Underwater Image Director for National Geographic (Washington) on the Pristine Seas project, and is a National Geographic Explorer.
